The title doesn’t tell you the sights to see in the East Midlands. There are places with history such as Derbyshire. There is the Arbor Low stone circle prehistoric site. The 50 stones, lying flat now, encircle a centre stone. This indicates an important sacred place. Not far off is Gib Hill which is a Bronze Age burial mound. There are other interesting sites in the area like the Nine Ladies Stone Circle and Hob Hurst’s House which is an ancient burial site named after a local goblin!
Nottinghamshire is a good place to visit especially Sherwood Forest and finding out about the best known folk hero, Robin Hood. The 800 year old oak tree is an amazing sight to see. In Nottingham you’ll find the oldest pub in England where the Crusaders used to meet! Try the Galleries of Justice Museum where you can take part in trials.
Leicestershire has plenty to offer. Spend time at the national Space Centre which has an amazing planetarium. You can have a simulated rocket flight which is fantastic. The Gorse Hill City Farm is well worth a visit on the outskirts of Leicester. We have all heard of Leicester cheese so why not visit the place where cheese is handmade on Sparkenhoe farm.
Lincolnshire is a perfect place to visit in East Midlands. Visit Lincoln Cathedral, which is beautiful and Lincoln Castle with it’s Victorian Museum and the Young Victoria exhibition. East Midlands has many really interesting places to visit, try it, it’s great.
